Liphook & Ripsley Cricket Club - Liphook Colts

Welcome to the Youth section of Liphook and Ripsley Cricket Club.  We have over 100 members at age groups ranging from from U7's through to U15's including both girls and boys.  Our squads compete in either the Berkeley Sports Two Counties or the South East Hants cricket leagues and most of our juniors will represent the club in competitive matches within these leagues.

We are an inclusive club and wish to reflect the diversity of our community.  In particular we encourage girls to join our training nights and play in our teams.  In 2018 we are running a girl's team for Junior school age girls (years 3 to 6) for the first time. It will be coached on Monday evenings by our female ECB level 2 coach and play matches against local teams on Sunday mornings.

The youth section of the club is entirely run by volunteers and we are always looking for help so if you would like to get involved please let any one of us know.  Our best teams have a number of parents actively involved, so that the workload is light and each can do what they enjoy and what fits in with their availability. Tasks where we need active involvement include umpiring, scoring, supporting the coach on training nights, serving behind the bar, fund raising, match day refreshments – or anything else you may feel could be useful to help the club succeed.

Outdoor coaching for 2018 begins week commencing 23rd April and takes place at Liphook and Ripsley’s main ground – off Portsmouth Road, 2 miles south of Liphook 300 yards past the Black Fox on the right hand side.

Training for all age-groups up to U11’s takes place on a Monday and for the U13’s and U15's on a Friday.

Each session starts at 6.30 pm and finishes at 8.00pm.  Our volunteer coaches are all fully qualified to ECB level 2 with the appropriate clearances to work with children, personal insurance and first aid training.  We maintain healthy ratios of coaching staff to children and many of our coaches play cricket for the adult teams at Liphook.

We feel it is important for our junior members to enjoy their cricket and develop their cricket skills in a safe environment.  We have adopted the England Cricket Board’s (ECB) “Safe Hands Policy” which sets out standards for good practice within a youth section of a cricket club.  We have also been awarded “Clubmark” status, which has continued to be renewed every three years.  This is an acknowledgement by the ECB that we are committed to providing an excellent and safe environment for junior cricketers - and have adopted all their standards for good practice.

The annual youth membership fee for U8 (year 3) and above 2018 is £60, and £40 for siblings. For younger chilldren (years 1 and 2 it is £40 and for siblings in this age group £30. We believe that this represents excellent value as it includes all outdoor training.

To enroll, please download and complete the Youth Membership Form and either bring it along to one of our training nights or come along to our registration and fun day on April 22nd from 11.30am to 2pm

Good practice

The following policies, safety guidance and codes of conduct should be read by parents and we will ask you to sign at the beginning of the season to acknowledge that you have read and understood them.  This will hopefully ensure that all junior members participating in cricket at Liphook will do so in a safe and positive environment and each will benefit from and enjoy the experience of playing a competitive team sport and doing so in the spirit of cricket.
