Winter training, teams for next year and survey results!

10 Dec 2018

Hi All

I hope you’re all well and looking forward to a break over Christmas! A few important Cricket updates:

Winter Training

Winter training starts in less than 6 weeks! As usual we have 3 sessions booked on Sunday afternoons starting at 3.30 with the last session finishing at 6.30. How we split them up will depend on numbers from each age group attending so please can you book your place now! To book just reply to this email with name and school year of children and make payment by bank transfer (Liphook and Ripsley CC, Sort Code:309394 Account Number: 34844068 - please use your child's name as reference) or by cheque/cash at the first session.

We intend to run 10 sessions starting on January 21st and finishing at the end of March with a 1 week break at half term. Cost remains the same as last year at £35 with a £10 sibling discount.

Teams for next year

We’ve agreed we’ll run the following teams next year……

U9 Boys (Year 3 and 4)

U9 Girls

U11 Boys (Year 5 and 6)

U11 Girls (Need a team manager)

U13 Lions and U13 Rippers (Need a team manager)

Survey Results

Many thanks to those of you that responded to the end of season survey. Summary of the results as follows:

We had 32 responses from children mainly in the years 5,6,7 and 8 (11 girls and 21 boys)

All have enjoyed the weekly coaching sessions and all but one feel they have improved as a result

All but one are aware of how to use the club website to see matches and set availability

27 had played in matches and of those, all but one had enjoyed them.

29 consider membership fees good value, 2 a little expensive and 1 a bargain.

7 would like to train all year round, 24 like our winter training where it is with one not interested in out of season training

We had 7 people express an interest in helping out – If you were one of them look out for another email shortly!

A number of comments were added on a range of subjects with no major themes but to give a flavour of areas we could improve…..

  • Last year’s u10’s barely got a game last season, we need to make sure that doesn’t happen this year.
  • Hard ball readiness – the approach with the girls of doing some end of season focused sessions worked well, we should probably look at doing that for all those about to move to hard ball in future.
  • Some sessions to focus on the more technical areas of batting
  • More ‘match type’ bowling practice

As always if you have any questions please let me know
